Hi, I’m Amber, and I’m cooking the alphabet with my two toddlers!
Pizza was one of the first meals my kids helped to cook, so they didn’t need much guidance from me this week while we cooked Mushroom Pizza for M is for Mushroom!
What you need:
Ingredients:
8 oz Mushrooms (we used Baby Bella)
1 tbsp Butter
Pizza crust of choice (we used flatbread)
Pizza sauce of choice
Mozzarella cheese
Any additional pizza toppings
Tools: Kid-safe knife
Getting The Kids Cooking:
Set-up tasks your toddler can help with include:
Grabbing kitchen tools
Grabbing ingredients
Then the fun part comes:
Rinsing mushrooms really well
Chopping up mushrooms
Watching while the adult sautés the mushrooms in butter until they are soft and have shrunken in size (this keeps them from drying out during baking)
Spreading the pizza sauce on the crust
Adding mushrooms, cheese, and additional toppings
First we rinsed our mushrooms and diced them up, and I sautéed them in butter!
Then comes their favorite part, eating…I mean, spreading the sauce. We use flatbread for the crust, which works really well! Then they placed mushrooms right on top of the sauce to keep them from drying out, added cheese, and pepperoni on top, and did plenty of snacking! We popped it in the oven at 350 degrees until the cheese was melted and crust golden brown, and then had a delicious lunch!
Remember to take photos of your little chef chopping, spreading, and sprinkling!
Now that the kids had fun, it's mama's turn!
Let's assemble the M page in our Baby Eats The Alphabet Recipe Book!
What you need:
Of course, we recommend purchasing a Baby Eats The Alphabet kit, which will have everything you need to create your recipe book keepsake (except the photos of your little ones), but honestly, the point is to create a beautiful book of your memories - which you can with: printed photos, paper (we recommend paper at least 8.5" x 8.5" so you can fit a photo plus the recipe!), double-sided tape, any fun embellishments you want like stickers, washi tape, or photo protectors, and something to hold your pages, like binder or scrapbook!
Write your recipe:
Use a small piece of paper to write down the recipe you used, and any memorable notes you want to record, for example: "Pizza is one of your favorite foods to cook AND eat!"
Pick your photos and lay everything out:
Before applying any tape, I recommend you lay out all of your elements to make sure everything fits and you like how it looks. Once you're happy with it, tape everything down, starting with the bottom layer first! And here's how mine turned out:
I would love to see what you decided to cook and create for M is for Mushroom! Please tag me in your creations @BabyEatsTheAlphabet!
